Michael (Mike) Mahood is a former member of the Canadian Men’s National Field Hockey team and a two-time Olympian (Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008);. He has played a the World Cup (Ultrect 1998); three Commonwealth Games; and three Pan Am Games (Pan American Elite team member). In 1999 he was named to the World XI as part of the FIH 75th Anniversary celebrations in Alexandria, Egypt.
Since retiring from the Canadian Men’s National Field Hockey team in 2008, Mike has spent a significant amount of time coaching the Canadian Women’s and Men’s National team goalkeepers; inclusive of coaching the Women’s Junior Canadian National Field Hockey team to a second place finish at the Junior Pan-American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
On the field, Mike was known for his aggressive style of play and intensity. As a coach, Mike is a big believer in being both a teacher and a motivator. Intensity and focus are paramount to success in high-level sport and are skills that he teaches from a technical, tactical and psychological perspective
